A box for hard days
On a hard day it is easy to forget that good days were real. So fill a box while you’re well: a note to yourself, kind words people have said, things you’re proud of, small comforts, things to look forward to, songs and photos. When a hard day comes, open it and go through it one thing at a time.
Good to know
Fill it on a good day
A hard day is the worst time to go looking for reasons and memories. Add things whenever they happen: a kind text, a photo you love, a small win. Five minutes now is a gift to the you of a harder day.
What goes in first
Your newest note to yourself opens the box, then anything you marked “keep near the front”, then everything else in a new order each time, so it doesn’t go stale. It ends with your list of comforts, so you finish with one small thing to do.
It is not a fix, and that’s OK
The box won’t make a hard day go away. It is a reminder that there is more to you and your life than this moment. If it stirs up something painful, close it and reach out to someone.
Goes well with a safety plan
A safety plan is the list of warning signs, what helps, and who to call. The box can be one of the things that helps. You can name it in your plan: “Open my box at scarletbeast.com/hope-box.”
