Search this site
Type what is going on, in your own words: can’t sleep, eviction, choking, lost my ID. Short forms and everyday words work too (food stamps, hep c, kicked out), and a small spelling slip is fine. We look through 1196 pages: every free tool and guide, in English and Spanish, the essays, and the rest of the site.

What happens to what you type
Nothing leaves this page. The search runs in your browser against one file, a list of the pages on this site, that your browser downloads once when the page opens. What you type is not sent to us or to anyone else, and it is not saved. So that a search can be linked or reloaded, your words are put after the # in the address bar: browsers do not send that part to any server, but it does stay in this browser’s history like any address. This page runs no analytics.
The list was built on October 23, 2026 and holds 1196 pages: the ones in our sitemap, apart from this page and its Spanish twin. A page added after that date will not be found here until the list is rebuilt. Pages in both languages are searched; pages in your language come first.
The search matches words (and the beginnings of words), not meanings. Two things help when your words are not the page’s words. For the tools and a few other pages we wrote a list of other ways people say the same thing, 18,641 phrases in all, such as “hep c”, “laid off” and “can’t pay rent”. And when a word is on no page at all, the search tries the closest spelling it knows and tells you which word it swapped. Neither is clever: the swap can guess wrong, and a phrase we did not think of may find nothing. Try another word if the first one fails.
