Speak for me
For the moments when words won’t come: a shutdown, a meltdown, a panic, a loud room, a stranger asking questions. Tap a message and your phone shows it in huge letters to whoever is in front of you. Build a card that explains what helps you, then print it for your wallet or keep it as your phone’s lock screen.
Good to know
You decide who sees it
Showing a card is always your choice. You never owe anyone a diagnosis. The card can say as much or as little as you want, and “I have a condition that affects how I communicate” is enough.
It is not an ID
This card is something you made for yourself. It isn’t an official document, and it doesn’t change anyone’s legal rights or duties. Keep it with your real ID, not in place of it.
Practise when you’re calm
It’s easier to use in a hard moment if your hands already know the way. Open the board a few times on a good day, and show the card to people you trust so they know what it means.
Reaching for it
If you keep the card in a pocket or bag, the board has a message for that: “My card is in my pocket. May I get it?” Showing that first means nobody is surprised when your hand moves.
