Bills this month: what comes in, what is due, what is left
When money is tight, the hardest part can be seeing the whole month at once. Write one line for each thing that comes in and each bill or cost, with the amount and the day of the month. This page adds it up, shows what is still to pay in day order, lets you tick things off, and prints one sheet. For yourself, or for someone you help.
Good to know
What this page can’t do
- It pays nothing and moves no money. Ticking “Paid” only marks your own list.
- It does not know your balance. It is not connected to a bank. “Left after everything” is the money you typed as coming in, minus the bills and costs you typed. Nothing more.
- It can’t remind you. It does not ring or send a notification. “Still to pay” only shows when you open the page.
- It does not know any due date, late fee or rule. The day on a line is the day you typed. Go by the bill itself, not by this page.
- It does not move to another phone or computer by itself. Print it, download it, or use My data on this device to carry a backup across.
How the months work
- Each month has its own sheet. The arrows in step 1 and step 2 move between months.
- When you open a month with nothing on it, one button brings over the lines you marked “every month” from the latest earlier month, unticked. Change any amount that is different.
- Changing a line changes it for that month only. Earlier months stay as you left them.
- If a day does not exist in a month (the 31st in a 30-day month), the sheet shows the last day of that month.
- Amounts are in U.S. dollars and cents. Write 85.50; 85,50 is read the same way.
Things people often find helpful
- Start with the lines you are sure of: rent, the phone, the bus pass. Add the rest as the bills arrive.
- For costs with no bill, like food or gas, write your best guess for the month as one line.
- For a bill that comes a few times a year, write it only in the months it falls in, and untick “every month”.
- Tick lines off on the day you pay, so the list stays true.
These are everyday ideas in our own words, not financial advice. If one does not suit you, leave it out.
When the month does not add up
If the sheet says “Short by”, this page cannot tell you what to do, and it would be wrong for it to guess. These pages list places that may help: help with bills and money, food help, when you lose your job and legal help when you can’t pay a lawyer. If you call a company or an office about a bill, the paper trail keeps track of what they said. Be careful with anyone who asks for money up front to fix a debt: see the scam check.

Also in Spanish: Cuentas del mes; both pages keep the same sheet on this device. The sheet holds up to 2,000 lines across all months and keeps them until you delete them. Found a mistake?
